Pianist, Carol Fifield, received her MM in
piano performance from Indiana University, Bloomington, Indiana, her BM in piano performance from Converse College, Spartanburg.
South Carolina, and her high school diploma with concentration in piano from the North Carolina School of the Arts, Winston-Salem,
North Carolina. She has also pursued doctoral studies at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Her performances
with orchestra and ensemble include: the Spartanburg Symphony,Greensboro Philharmonic Band and the Cardinal Trio. Master classes
include: Guido Agosti, Jerome Rose, Joseph Kalichstein, and Jose Feghali. Ms. Fifield's teachers include: Joseph Kalichstein,
George Lucktenberg, Zadel Skolovsky and Edna Golandsky.
Ms. Fifield feels that to successfully teach the piano one must always be
open to new ideas, methods and approaches. Art is not stagnant therefore the artist should always seek opportunities for growth
and improvement, which may avail themselves in many forms. Ms. Fifield's
students have received superior ratings at all levels of the district and state divisions of the NCMTA Contest Festival, have
performed on several Focus on Piano Literature events and at the William S. Newman Artists Series Master Class; they have
been selected to attend the Eastern Music Festival and have won such competitions as The Piano and Organ Distributors Scholarship
Competition, the Gardner-Webb Concerto Competition and the Meredith College Chopin Competition. Ms. Fifield's students have
placed in the MTNA Senior Piano Performance Competition, the Peter Perret Talent Search and the GSO Youth Symphony Orchestra
Concerto Competition. Ms. Fifield is the director of Gateway Piano Studio of Greensboro, NC and maintains a full piano studio.
